Building WIE with the builder script
-
Heya,
I ran the builder from the downloads page, following the instructions, and merged the tftpboot folder as it said. but the resulting Builds folder's tftpboot folder does not have any BCDx32 and BCDx64 files or folders. Do I need to rename something?

I have recently set up toems after using clonedeploy for years. I also noticed that the BCD file were missing and without them Wie did not work. In my case I used the BCD files from clonedeploy. Which worked for our latitude 3510 laptops. However, they did not work for our new Latitude 3520 laptops. it seemed as though winPE build did not include the universal token and drivers even though I added them to the file. I would think that toems has something built in to build the BCD files but I have not found it yet. For now I plan to build a new BCD file. It seems after some research that building a new BCD file is not too hard based on this tutorial.

It looks like somewhere along the way the make pe scripts line endings accidentally got changed to Unix(LF) instead of Windows(CRLF) which is causing the bcd files to not be created. I'll update this soon. I don't think this would cause an issue if usb booting the WIE instead of PXE.

@theopenem_admin Correct, I was able to boot from the USB, but that did not solve my related problem.

What happens when you use the WIE with usb?
-
Well, I was able to boot, but it still couldn't give a network address, to get past the boot shell. I blame this totally on the devices, but I'm frustrated. When I finally got it to take an address, it failed to find a drive.

Someday, I'll have enough reputation to be able to reply more quickly

It won't find the drive on WinPE? That's the first I've heard that.

@theopenem_admin I don't recall if I did the winpe, after I got the linux usb to actually boot. I had to stop messing with it to get other stuff ready, but I'll try winpe again, with the switch turned off

Turns out I did. Here's what happened:
Oddly, it shows it having received an IP address in the second screen.
The third screen is after I've assigned a static IP to it (A random valid one or the one listed above do the same thing)
